C3’s 2025 survey reveals how Defense Industrial Base contractors are preparing for CMMC. Uncover trends, challenges, and strategies shaping the path to compliance.
In Q1 2025, C3 surveyed the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) through both in-person and online surveys to benchmark the DIB’s readiness for the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) program. With more than 120 respondents (all of whom are pursuing at least Level 1 CMMC compliance), the survey is representative rather than comprehensive, designed to provide DIB companies with a snapshot into how they stand against their peers.
As CMMC becomes a critical requirement for Department of Defense (DoD) contractors, understanding the industry’s current preparedness, timelines, challenges, and approaches is essential.
Our objective in running this survey was to:
- Gauge the overall awareness and commitment to achieving CMMC certification.
- Assess timelines and readiness for compliance across small and medium-sized businesses.
- Identify common concerns and roadblocks organizations are facing in the journey toward certification.
- Understand the types of external support companies are relying on to achieve CMMC readiness.
- Provide valuable insights to help DIB contractors benchmark their own efforts against
industry peers.
