C3 and AvePoint Partner to Offer Office 365 GCC High Back-up

Today, we’re very excited to announce a new partnership with AvePoint Public Sector. Together, our teams have launched Office 365 GCC High Back-up, one of the first GCC High back-up solutions in the market. Office 365 GCC High Back-up builds on AvePoint’s world-class back-up service offerings, and C3’s proven experience delivering the Office 365 GCC High environment.

As one of the few partners working on Office 365 GCC High, we believe it’s important to lead the way in adding complementary services to improve the overall client experience. This is the first of several announcements that we will be making in the coming months towards this goal.

Office 365 GCC High – Designed for Defense Industrial Base

Defense contractors that make up the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) have contractual requirement around DFARS 252.204-7012 that is built around NIST 800-171 and other controls. These additional controls, as well as those that require data sovereignty (i.e. ITAR) are met with a special version of Office 365 known as Government Community Cloud (GCC) High. This is the only version of Office 365 that meets these flow-down requirements.

CMMC Requires Back-up

Building upon the DFARS requirements, as well as FAR 52.204-21, the new released Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) will add additional requirements as well as a third-party accreditation requirement to the existing standards. While backing up data has always been a recommended best practice, the earlier rules never explicitly required it. CMMC adds the requirement to back up all data for Level 2 and higher compliance. This, of course would include Office 365 GCC High.

The new service is expected to meet the needs of CMMC practices around data backup for Office 365 GCC High. It will include multiple options for storage as well as retention and include many of the features you would expect in an enterprise class solution.

Note: CMMC Version 1.02 is available for providers as well as companies to react to. However, formal review and approval of solutions to requirements will not be available until later this year as the Accreditation Board is still organizing the first audits have not been conducted.

Further, Office 365 GCC High Backup offers centralized management and security. This includes the ability to track, manage and report on all backup and restore processes through a centralized management console.

Why Office 365 GCC High?

Office 365 GCC High is the only version of Office 365 that meets the data sovereignty requirements of ITAR. Additionally, it is the only version of Office 365 that Microsoft will attest to the flow-down clauses associated with DFARS 252.204-7012. Both of these requirements are fundamental to most contracts associated with the Department of Defense.
