AFCEA CMMC Symposium Goes Virtual; Bill Wootton to Speak
AFCEA International announced last week that its CMMC Symposium, led by keynote speaker Katie Arrington, will move to a virtual experience on April 23, 2020.
As CMMC rolls out later this year, the Defense Industrial Base (DIB) is watching closely to see how it will be affected. The certification challenges the industry with many issues and opportunities, both known and unknown. The AFCEA CMMC symposium aims to unpack the model to help the DIB industry understand how their contracting strategies may change. Presenters include agency leaders developing the CMMC as well as industry representatives who have implemented NIST SP 800-171 and related cybersecurity control standards.
During the symposium, C3’s Bill Wootton will speak about his experience specifically with deploying NIST 800-171, and how C3 Integrated Solutions has helped companies implement technologies required by these guidelines. While much is still unknown about the CMMC audit process, there are similarities between CMMC, NIST and DFARS which can help guide managed service providers and others as they begin to recommend implementation strategies for specific types of cybersecurity products, services and policies required by CMMC. Bill will join other panel members to discuss successes, quick wins, challenges, and lessons learned from their compliance journey, and how to prepare for a smooth CMMC path.
Registration is available by visiting the AFCEA CMMC Symposium Web site.
